Selky

What we shipped

A short, honest log of what's new in Selky, sprint by sprint. No marketing fluff — what shipped, who it's for, and what comes next.

Sprint 6

You can see your provider coming

The app feels alive now. Push notifications land the moment a status actually changes — a new job appears in the provider's feed, the customer's phone pings on accepted, on the way, starting, done. No more pull-to-refresh guessing. When the provider is en route or on the job, the customer booking screen shows a live map with a pin that moves as the provider drives in, plus a rough "about N minutes out" hint under it. Location is foreground-only and stops the second the job completes or cancels — the app isn't tracking anyone in the background.

Under the hood this is Supabase Realtime streaming location breadcrumbs from the provider to the customer, gated by RLS so only the customer on that booking (and admins) can read them. Breadcrumbs are pruned nightly after a week so the table doesn't grow forever. None of this is new product per se — just what Uber-style apps get right in year one, closed out in week one.

Sprint 7 is the last leg before submission: ratings (already in flight), the full marketing site at selky.co, provider-web settings + historical job list, and both mobile apps packaged for the stores.

Sprint 6

House cleaning joins the catalog, priced by your rooms

Selky's first non-handyman category is here: house cleaning. A two-bath house and a four-bath house are different jobs, so one flat price would never be fair. Instead of making you chase quotes, you build your exact price from your rooms. Start from the base clean, then add bedrooms, bathrooms, and your kitchen. The total updates as you go, and what you see is what you pay. Still one booking, one pro, one payment.

  • Two versions. A standard clean for upkeep, and a deep clean for first visits or homes that haven't had a professional clean in a while (baseboards, grout, inside the oven and fridge). A typical 3-bedroom, 2-bath standard clean in Woodstock runs $175.
  • Your supplies or theirs. Prefer your own products in your home? Two quick toggles at booking cover cleaning products and the vacuum, at no price difference. Your pro sees your choice before accepting, so there are no doorstep surprises.
  • For pros. Cleaning jobs are now in the feed and pay the same flat 80% as every Selky job. If you'd rather show up and use the customer's supplies, there are jobs for that too.
Sprint 5

Money moves — Stripe Connect end-to-end

Payments are wired. When a customer books, we authorize their card for the fixed price — money is held, not moved. When the provider marks the job completed, that hold is captured and the provider's cut is transferred to their Stripe Connect account the same second. Cancellation releases the hold without charging.

Providers finish their signup with a new step: a hosted Stripe Express onboarding page where they connect a bank and provide the info Stripe needs to send payouts. Their SSN and routing details never touch Selky — Stripe handles that directly. Once they return, pro.selky.co/earnings shows a running total and a per-job breakdown of what they've earned.

Provider takes 80% of every completed job (one flat number, no tiers — spec §7). Stripe pays out to their bank on the standard 2-business-day schedule.

Sprint 6 is location + push: en-route tracking, an approaching-provider map on the customer side, and notifications on every status change.

Sprint 4

Providers can accept + run jobs

The provider mobile app is live-work ready. When a customer books, the request shows up as "Waiting for you" in the provider's jobs feed within a second — that's Supabase Realtime doing its job. The provider taps Accept, then walks the job through three status transitions: on my way, start the job, mark completed. The customer watches each transition update in their My bookings screen live.

Provider onboarding — business info, service area, task selection, FCRA disclosure + consent, background check — lands on pro.selky.co in the next drop. Until then a test provider account is stitched in by hand so the accept/complete loop is testable end-to-end.

No money moves yet. Stripe Connect for auth-holds at booking + capture-and-transfer at completion arrives in Sprint 5.

Sprint 3

You can book a task

The customer app now takes a task from browsing to a real booking. Pick a job, enter your service address, we find approved providers in your area sorted by distance, you confirm, and the request lands in the provider's queue — all in about four taps.

We're not charging cards yet. Payment holds arrive in Sprint 5, when Stripe Connect wires in. Today a booking just creates a pending request; the provider accepts it, and you coordinate the visit directly for the moment. The status of your booking updates live in "My bookings" as the provider moves through en route → in progress → completed.

Provider onboarding — background checks, service area, task selection, W9 — lands in Sprint 4. Until then the app has one test provider to prove the loop end-to-end.

Sprint 2

The Woodstock task catalog is live

Selky's customer app now shows the actual list of tasks you can book in Woodstock, Cherokee County — 30 fixed-price jobs across 8 categories: mounting & hanging, furniture assembly, doors & windows, drywall & paint, general home fixes, organizing, moving & hauling, and seasonal outdoor work. Prices are locked in the app between $69 and $159 per task, no estimates.

Plumbing and electrical work stay off the list until we onboard providers with the Georgia trade licenses those jobs legally require. Longer session-based work — organizing days, unpacking help — is parked until we've proven the fixed-outcome loop and figured out how overage gets handled.

Next up: address entry, provider matching, and holding your payment while the work is scheduled. Booking a real job lands in Sprint 3.
